What is a Personal Statement?
A personal statement is a part of your application that allows us to get an insight into you as an individual.
It’s your chance to demonstrate why you are right for the course, and why we should choose you over another candidate.
Top Tips for Writing your Personal Statement
There’s no set format that your personal statement should follow, it’s personal so it really is up to you. Below are a few pointers to help you get started:
Tip #1
Every applicant will have a certain level of qualifications, but your work experience and career plans is what will set you apart when competing for a place on your chosen course – Let us know what you've done and where you're going.
Tip #2
Another thing to discuss in your personal statement is why you would like to study the course?
What is it about this course that interests you?
Is there a particular module that excites you?
Tip #3
Then you can move on to demonstrate how studying the course will benefit you?
Here you can discuss your future career aspirations.
Are you looking at specialising in this area in particular?
Are you applying for a promotion in work that you need a higher qualification to reach?
Tell us how you think the course will help you reach these goals.
Tip #4
Finally, tell us anything else about yourself that you think might support your application.
For example: if you have undertaken any CPD in this area, if you like to keep up with the latest trends and developments, or if you have any professors in the field who have inspired you.
