Former Dermatology in Clinical Practice MSc student explains how it has incorporated creativity and improvised their clinical skills.

“This part time MSc in dermatology carries great weightage both professionally and in personal clinical practice.”

Having successfully completed the Dermatology in Clinical Practice MSc in 2020, Dr Safi Abbas Rizvi tells us a little bit about his background, how the course helped shape his career, what it takes to succeed in this course, and the sort of recognition Safi has received after getting his dermatology master’s published.

1.) Tell us a little bit about your background?

After obtaining my primary medical qualification from India, I proceeded further for the residency program in a few of the medical schools in India. I successfully hold a strong grip in the healthcare sector here in India and belong to a family where all the members are medics.

After completion of my residency program in dermatology (Skin & VD), I got an opportunity to do a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Cosmetology. Following completion of this diploma I established my own clinical practice in cosmetology. After practicing for quite a few months, I was lucky enough to join Learna | Diploma MSc. I am a medical doctor practicing dermatology and cosmetology and practicing in a multispeciality clinic at Lucknow, India. I am also a visiting consultant dermatologist and cosmetologist at Pulse hospital and research center in Ayodhya, India.

2.) What was your favorite module/ part of the course that really benefited your practice?

Whilst undertaking my Postgraduate Diploma in Dermatology in Clinical Practice, Modules 1,3,5, and 6 were my favourite ones.

During the MSc portion of the qualification I enjoyed Module 1 and 2. The quality of discussions in the academic forum, weekly quiz, active participation in group discussions, sharing of personal clinical experiences, as well as, individual and group assignments, proved to be the best thing in shaping and upgrading my professional career.

3.) After your master’s got published - what sort of recognition have you received?

Following my master's work publication, I got tremendous recognition in India and abroad.

I am getting a maximum number of clinical cases in connection with the research work I did - apart from that, there is a lot of increment in the number and variety of dermatology cases apart from what the research work is about.

I am involved in working on some more interesting topics which include case reports, presentations and publications as well as preparing articles for publication in dermatology journals. This has incorporated creativity and improvised my clinical skills.

4.) What does it take to succeed in this course?

This online dermatology course requires a lot of focus, excellent analysis of academic scenarios, and strategic planning. To get involved in the academic forum actively, despite being extremely occupied in professional commitments, consistency and time management are some of the significant key aspects to succeed in this course.

5.) What would you say to students who are considering studying this course?

This course is very useful for busy clinicians and for those individuals who want to upgrade their clinical knowledge and obtain a stronghold in their clinical practice. This dermatology MSc course carries great weightage both professionally and in personal clinical practice. The dermatology online course is very beneficial in upgrading skills and clinical knowledge and has the capacity to give tremendous recognition among recruiters and patients with its high-quality, well-structured teaching and learning curriculum. Flexibility is the best quality this dermatology master’s course carries.
