Balancing a career in family medicine, running a planning clinic, and raising five children—while pursuing a postgraduate diploma—is a lot to juggle, but Dr. Nurul Azraa Binti made it work. Her story proves that with determination and structure, even the busiest lives can accommodate learning.
“I was looking for an external programme to upgrade my knowledge and skills. A colleague suggested the Postgraduate Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Medicine, and though online learning was new to me, I was eager to take on the challenge.”
Dr. Nurul created a study plan that aligned with her clinical hours and family responsibilities. “I made sure my children were well taken care of before catching up on lessons. Weekends were dedicated to revision, and participating in group discussions helped tremendously.”
The course proved invaluable to her role in reproductive health. “It deepened my understanding of contraception, fertility treatments, and assisted reproduction. The interactive discussions allowed me to apply my knowledge in practice.”
Her biggest takeaway? “Online learning is flexible, but discipline is key. Setting realistic goals, staying organised, and allowing yourself grace when things don’t go as planned are crucial. Balancing academia and parenting is challenging, but achievable.”
