Pioneering the Future of Neurosurgery: A Student’s Journey to Excellence
Priya Kadam, a junior clinical fellow in neurosurgery and graduate of our MSc Neurosurgery programme, brings a unique perspective with her background in Psychology BSc and Neuroscience MSc.
Starting as an F1 doctor with clear aspirations in neurosurgery, she chose Learna for its distinctive long-distance learning approach.
The programme's flexible structure proved invaluable as Priya balanced her full-time clinical work. She particularly valued the academic forum discussions, where despite being the most junior participant, she gained practical knowledge directly applicable to patient care. "The combination of structured education from professionals, case discussions, and then applying this knowledge was very effective."
Her favorite component was neuro-oncology, though she found the vascular module most challenging. Through case studies and academic discussions, Priya developed stronger clinical reasoning skills that enhanced her professional practice.
For prospective students, Priya emphasises the importance of self-determination and discipline in online learning: "You need to sustain interest over two years, so definitely think about what motivates you."
